Our Privacy Policy and GDPR

This unit and Girlguiding UK take the privacy and safety of both parents / guardians and the young Rainbows members seriously. We receive training on Privacy, Data Protection (GDPR) and Safeguarding, through Girlguiding UK.

Sharing photos and videos safely

In promoting the unit, we will share photos and videos of activities that the girls engage in with, your permission. Upon registration of your daughter's interest in guiding, your permission would have been sort for the use of images that feature your daughter. This permission or, prohibition is held upon a national database that, we regularly reference before publishing of any media which may feature your daughter.

How is permission sort?

Girls wishing to join guiding for the first time must first register their interest upon the national guiding database. During the registration the following options were offered and recorded.

  • I am happy for photographs/videos to be taken of my daughter during guiding activities and used in national and local guiding publicity, communications, publications or digital channels (eg websites, social media).

  • I am happy for photographs/videos to be taken of my daughter during guiding activities for use within the unit only, not used for national and local guiding publicity, communications, publications or digital channels (eg websites, social media).

  • I do not wish any photographs/videos to be taken of my daughter while she undertakes guiding activities.

You can of course retract any permission and the database will be amended. Please contact both the Unit Leader and Administrator, for prompt action.

Large scale events - photo / video permissions differ for large-scale events (where over 100 participants are present). Consent forms will state clearly if an event is large scale, and will request parents to tell Leaders if they do not wish photos/videos of their daughter to be taken at the event.
